Isabella was born in 1859.  Isabella's father is Nicholas Oman and her mother is Isabella McAdie.  Her paternal grandparents are Nicholas Oman and Isabella Baikie; her maternal grandparents are John McAdie and Christina.  She has four brothers and two sisters, named Nicholas, William, David, James, Janet and Jane.  She is the fourth oldest of the seven children.
