Robert was born in 1899.  Robert's father was Robert McKenzie Campbell and his mother was Barbara Manson.  His paternal grandparents were John Campbell and Margaret MacKenzie; his maternal grandparents were David Manson and Janet Mowat.  He had two brothers and two sisters, named John, David, Jessie and Margaret.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 19 in 1918.
