Margaret was born in 1851.  Margaret's father is James Bisset and her mother was Christian Thomson.  Her paternal grandparents are James Bisset and Betty Maxwell; her maternal grandparents were Walter Thomson and Margaret Penman.  She has three brothers and a sister, named James, Walter, William and Isabella.  She is the second oldest of the five children.
