John was born in 1879 in Lymm, Cheshire, England. He died at the age of 87 in 1966 in Richmond upon Thames, London.General Notes

Living at Lostock Hall Farm, Walton le Dale, Lancs at time of 1891 Census.
Boarding with the Halhead family (farmers) at Farleton, Lancs at time of 1901 Census.
Lived at Newby, Westmorland and El-Tahr, Egypt after marriage. Managed a cotton plantation cotton near Alexandria for many years, working for the Aboukir Land Trust, until the British were ejected from Egypt by Nasser at the time of the Suez crisis in 1956. Returned to Newby Head Farm, near Penrith, before moving to London.
