Jan was born in 1725 in Varik and his baptism took place there on June 24th, 1725.1  Jan's father was Evert Janszn den Drijver and his mother was Susanna van Tongeren.  His paternal grandparents were Jan den Drijver and N.N. N.N.. He had three brothers and a sister, named Christoffel, Hendricus, Dirk and Aaltje.  He was the oldest of the five children.
