Arij was born on October 1st, 1805 in Fijnaart en Heijningen.1  Arij's father was Samuel van Doorn and his mother was Janna Schilperoort.  His paternal grandfather is Balten van Doorn and his paternal grandmother was Maria Charpentier; his maternal grandparents are Arij Gijsbertszn Schilperoort and Adriana Versluijs. He had three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender named Maria, Adriana, Pieternella and Doorn.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 79 on August 30th, 1885 in Fijnaart en Heijningen.1
