Geertruijt Sijmensdr was born in 1740 and her baptism took place on April 17th, 1740 in Veen.1  Geertruijt Sijmensdr's father was Sijmen Lambertszn Doedijns and her mother was Johanna Jansdr van Veen.  Her paternal grandparents were Lammert Arienszn Doedijns and Geertruijd Sijmensdr van der Stelt; her maternal grandparents were Jan Willem van Veen and Sijken Aerts Nieuwkoop. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Lambertus Sijmenszn, Joannes, Simon, Simon Sijmenszn, Aartent, Sijken Sijmensdr, Willemijntje, Dingena and Johanna.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 74 on June 7th, 1814 in Heesbeen.2
