Arien was born in 1705 and his baptism took place on October 18th, 1705 in Doeveren.1   Arien's father was Lammert Arienszn Doedijns and his mother was Geertruijd Sijmensdr van der Stelt.  His paternal grandparents were Arie Lambert op 't Sluijsveld Doedijns and Gijsbertje Huijbertsdr van Wijk; his maternal grandfather is Sijmen Arienszn van der Stelt and his maternal grandmother was Dingena Corstdr Vos. He had five brothers and a sister, named Sijmen Lambertszn, Hendrik, Arien Lambertszn, Lambert, Hendrick Lambertszn and Ariaentje.  He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had two half-sisters named Geertruijd and Dingena.
