Berend Harmenszn was born in April 1782 and his baptism took place on April 28th, 1782 in Lochem.1  Berend Harmenszn's father was Harmen Buijrink and his mother was Adriana Scholten.  His paternal grandparents were Berent Burink and Jenneken Nieuwenhuijs; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Scholten and Harmina Harking. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Gerrit Jan, Hendrik Harmenszn, Jan Harmenszn, Jenneken Hermansdr, Jenneken and Janna.  He died at the age of 89 on February 25th, 1872 in Lochem.1
