Jan was born in August 1671 in Swijp and his baptism took place on August 20th, 1671 in Lochem.1   His godfathers were Henric Burinc, Wilbert Schulten and his godmother was Eesse Ketelenbergh. Jan's father was Berent Burinck and his mother was Otjen Schulten.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Burinck and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Gerrit Schulten and N.N. N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Herman, Goossen, Trientjen and Jenneken.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died before March 19th, 1676.1
