Pieternella was born in 1729 in Waspik and her baptism took place there on March 27th, 1729.1  Pieternella's father was Willem Gijsbertszn van den Broek and her mother was Marike Fasen Torens. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Gysbert, Pieter, Zijtje, Heijlke and Mijntje.  She is the third oldest of the six children.
