Lubbert was born on October 20th, 1843 in Ermelo.1  Lubbert's father was Jan van den Broek and his mother was Beerntje de Mots.  His paternal grandparents were Willem Aalten van den Broek and Hendrikje Jansdr Ruitenberg; his maternal grandparents were Lubbert Gijsbertszn de Mots and Gerritje Jansdr Boonen. He had a brother and three sisters, named Willem, Gerritje, Hendrikje and Elbertje.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 83 on June 13th, 1927 in Ermelo.1
