Brandt Brandszn was born in December 1746 in Harderwijk and his baptism took place there on December 11th, 1746.1  Brandt Brandszn's father was Brand Geurtszn van den Broek and his mother was Hendrikjen Willemsdr Timmer.  His paternal grandparents were Geurt Janszn van den Broek and Driesje Jansdr N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Willem Hartgers Timmer and Marritje Aaltsdr N.N.. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Lubbert Brandszn, Aalt Brandszn, Jannetje Brandsdr, Beertjen Brandsdr, Driesje Brandsdr and Marritje Brandsdr.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
