Jan was born in 1733 and his baptism took place on March 8th, 1733 in Haaften.1   His godmother was/is Jenneken van Mil. Jan's father is Johannes Philipszn Blomhert and his mother is Gijsbertje van Varik.  His paternal grandparents were Philip Gompertszn Blomhert and Jenneke Teunissen van Mil. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Teunis, Gijsbert, Gompert, Egbert Janszn, Gijsbertje, Maria and Jenneke.  He is the fourth oldest of the eight children.
