Gompert Egbertszn was born in 1708 in Haaften and his baptism took place there on April 1st, 1708 conducted by Reverend C. van Rie.1   His godmother was Jenneke Teunissen. Gompert Egbertszn's father was Egbert Blomhert and his mother was Maijken Hendricksdr Aldens.  His paternal grandparents were Gompert Egbertszn Blomhert and Maria Koenen; his maternal grandparents were Hendrick Dirckszn Aldens and N.N. N.N.. He had a sister named Dingena.  He was the older of the two children.
