Eelken was born in 1654 and her baptism took place on December 31st, 1654 in Haaften conducted by Reverend Josias J.S. Spiljardus.1   Her godmother was Neesken Rochus. Eelken's father was Steven Alertszn Blomhert and her mother was Jenneken Huijbertsdr.  Her paternal grandfather was Alert Stevenszn Blomhert and her paternal grandmother is N.N. N.N.. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Alert Stevenszn, Huijbert, Gompert Stevenszn, Hilleken, Geertke, Huijbertken, Geertke, Huijbertie, Anneken and Maria.  She was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
