Dirk Aart was born on February 29th, 1856 in Brakel.1  Dirk Aart's father was Jacob Stevenszn van Balen and his mother is Neeltje van Wijgerden.  His paternal grandparents are Steven van Balen and Berbera Jansdr Hack. He had three sisters named Lena Artje, Aartje and Jacoba.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at just 21 days old on March 21st, 1856 in Brakel.1
