Peter was born in 1640 in Heusden (NL) and his baptism took place there on February 14th, 1640.1  Peter's father was Jan Ariaen Willemszn Baaijens and his mother was Margarita van Hijsselt.  His paternal grandparents were Ariaen Willemszn Baaijens and Maijken Jansdr van Buren. He had five brothers named Henricus, Jan Janszn, Cornelis Janszn, Henricus and Evert.  He was the second oldest of the six children.
