Sepia photograph of Samuel Heiser, with un-named woman, possibly his wife Julia, or one of his three daughters. - Samuel Heiser (1854-1927) was a long-serving teacher at Jews' Free School for over thirty-eight years, from 1867 until his retirement in 1903 due to ill-health. He was also headmaster of Old Ford and North Bow Hebrew Religion Classes from 1878, for over thirty-five years, alongside his wife Julia as headmistress; and Secretary of New Road Synagogue, the Cracow Jewish Friendly Society, and the City of London Jewish Tailors' Society. He lived at Pembury Road, Lower Clapton and was one of the oldest and most respected members of the South Hackney Synagogue. They had three daughters and one son, Solomon Heiser, who was also a teacher at Jews' Free School in Bell Lane.
