William Thatcher 
William was born in 1778 in Cheddar, England. William is no longer alive.- General Notes
- Not yet proven that this is Joseph's father (see Gen 1 below) but they lived close together in 1841 so it is very possible. In the 1841 census William was aged 63, a shoemaker; and in the 1851 census, aged 74, still a shoemaker. No death year for William has yet been established but his wife was a widow by 1861.
Joanna was aged 60 in the 1841 census; aged 70 at 1851; and by the 1861 census aged 81, widowed; living in the Dag Hole area of Cheddar, with son Robert as head of household, aged 47, a cropper.
