  • PROVIDENCE --- Amico V. "Ricco" Truppa, 68, of 98 Wainwright St., owner of the Freeway Supermarket from 1958 to 1967, died Saturday at Roger Williams General Hospital. He was the husband of Emma (Rao) Truppa.
    
    Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Gaetano and Maria (Scaglione) Truppa.
    
    Mr. Truppa was associated with the wholesale and retail food industry for 35 years. He also owned Lincoln Packing Co. from 1944 to 1958. He was a member of the Rhode Island Grocers Association, and the board of directors of the New England Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association.
    
    Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Rainone of North Providence; three sons, Amico G. Truppa of Coventry, Michael R. Truppa of East Greenwich and Ronald Truppa of Saratoga, N.Y.: two brothers, Pasquale Truppa of North Providence and Salvatore Truppa of Seekonk, Mass.; five sisters, Theresa Verona of Cranston, Antonetta Arcaro of Providence, Viola Cherico of Narragansett, Romilda DiGasparro of North Providence and Alma Tweedley of Smithfield; and nine grandchildren.
    
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Hawkins Street. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
