Edward W. Ricci

Edward W. was born on September 10th, 1917. He died at the age of 77 on February 23rd, 1995.

Death Notes
- EDWARD W. RICCI, 77, a well-known figure in the textile industry, died Thursday at his home in Del Ray, Fla. He was the husband of Dorothy (Aiello) Ricci. Born in Providence, a son of the late Frederick and Antonette Ricci, he had lived both in Providence and Newport.
  
  Mr. Ricci's life was spent in the textile industry where he started as a dyer in the 1930s. In 1947, he and the late Leo Goldberg founded Duro Finishing in Fall River. Duro today employs more than 1,300 in Massachusetts and North Carolina.
  
  Mr. Ricci was a member of the Class of 1939 at the College of Holy Cross and was a United States Army veteran of WW II with service in the Pacific.
  
  He served as chairman and trustee of the Ocean State Charities Trust. He was knighted by the Italian government in recognition of his charitable activities. He was a director of the First Bank & Trust of Providence, and former member of the board of directors of Nortek Inc. He was also appointed Rhode Island Commodore.
  
  An avid golfer, he was a member of the Newport Country Club, Metacomet Country Club and Pine Tree Country Club in Del Ray.
  
  Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Edward F. Ricci of Providence; a daughter, Linda R. Fischer of Providence; two sisters, Margaret Croce of Providence and Dorothy Ricci of North Providence; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
  
  The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 in St. Sebastian Church, Cole Avenue. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
