Francis J. Rao

Francis J. was born on February 23rd, 1930. He was adopted by Francesco "Frank" Rao & Eva Taddei. He died at the age of 62 on February 15th, 1993.

Death Notes
- PROVIDENCE --- Francis J. Rao, 63, of 629 Mount Pleasant Ave., deputy director of the emergeny management agency of the City of Providence since 1988, died yesterday at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria (Lepore) Rao.
  
  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late former State Democratic Chairman Frank Rao, and Eva (Taddei) Rao.
  
  Mr. Rao was a 1952 graduate of Providence College, and had attended Georgetown University. He was a 1958 graduate of Boston University with a law degree. He was a practicing lawyer from 1958 until his death. He was legal counsel for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation in the 1950s until 1962. He was co-owner of the former Rao Brothers Distributing Co.
  
  He was a mayoral candidate in Providence in 1962 and in 1964. He was administrative assistant and former secretary of the State Board of Elections from 1974 until 1988.
  
  Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Diane K. Pertuso, Doreen F. Wright, and Mary E. Tudino, all of North Providence; a son, Frank J. Rao of Providence, and three grandchildren.
  
  The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
