    Nancy Robeson Wise is the daughter of James Robeson and Elizabeth Stafford [according to] a biography of Thomas H. Robeson in a Franklin County history:
    
    "The paternal grandparents of Thomas H. Robeson were James Robeson and wife, the former of whom was born in North Carolina and came to Kentucky early in life, and later, about 1809, settled in Franklin county, Indiana, his death occurring in this county in 1871.  Grandmother Robeson died in 1858 in Ripley county, Indiana, at the home of one of her daughters, Mrs. Nancy Wise.

Robeson's paternal grandfather, James Robeson, was for many years one of the most prominent residents of Dearborn county, and it is still recalled by those whose memories go back to the traditions of pioneer days that no gathering of the neighborhood folk in those early days was complete without him.  He was not only famous as a "fiddler," the strains of whose rollicking music were considered necessary to the success of all social meetings of the day, but he was already noted as a skillful Nimrod, whose aim with a rifle when a squirrel ora coon was in sight, was regarding as unerring as that of another Davy Crockett.  James Robeson was a native of Kentucky, in which state he married Elizabeth Stafford.  Shortly after their marriage they came to Indiana, and entered a government tract comprising what is now known as the W. H. Prifogle farm.  Here they put up a cabin in the woods and proceeded to reclaim the soil from the gigantic forest growth with which it was covered.  Both continued to live there until a ripe old age, when they retired and moved to Ripley county, where they spent their last days."

(= IN).  At 304/304 are John/Sophronia ROBESON age 40/35 KY/"Not Known" with Nancy 17 IN, Thomas 9 IN and Sarah 1 IN, plus Jackson MC ANNALLY 13 IN.  Only other ROBESON h/hold in Highland, Franklin, IN in 1850 is 299/299 Henry 48 (b est 1802) farmer KY with Elizabeth 18 IN, Sophronia 15 IN and Benjamin 13 IN.

    on 1807 Indiana Territory Census:
    The Indiana Territory was established from the Old Northwest Territory in 1800. Originally it included a vast area from which the Michigan Territory was separated in 1805 and  the Illinois
    Territory in 1809. Only three Indiana Counties were formed before 1808, Knox in 1790, Clark in 1801and Dearborn in 1803.  In 1806 the General Assembly of the Indiana Territory passes a resolution: to enable the Governor of this territory, for equal  representation to the general assembly. The sheriffs of the counties
    of Dearborn,Clark, Knox and Randolph (Illinois). Take a list of all the free males 21 years and older, and return to list to the secretary of the state on or before the June 1st 1807. There are no known copy of the Clark County census taken in 1806, there  are copies of the voters list for this county for the same year.
    
    Dearborn County included an area from Ft. Recovery, Ohio south west to Madison,Indiana. Currently  includes all or part of Wayne, Franklin, Union, Fayette, Dearborn, Ohio, Rush and Switzerland  Counties.

Robeson [...] was born in 1863 on the farm in which he still makes his home and on which he has resided all his life.  He first saw the light of day in the old stone house on the paternal farm, which now is occupied by his son.  George B. is the son of John and Catherine Ann (Whitehead) Robeson, the former of whom was born in Kentucky, June 18, 1810, and who came to Franklin county with his parents when he was but one year old, the family locating in the neighborhood in which they spent the remainder of their lives.  Catherine Ann (Whitehead) Robeson was a member of one of the pioneer families of Dearborn county.
