Mary Ann Wade: "The first Brewers to come to St. Mary's County, Maryland were a George and Ann Brewer. They came as indentured servants to a Col. John Jarboe in 1658. George and Ann chose a section of 100 acres which he called Prattlewell. This section of land lay along Winkipimisko Creek, later called Misky Run. It is located about three miles north/northwest of Leonardtown.
"George and Ann were transported into Maryland in 1658 as indentured servants of Col. John Jarboe. They owned land in Chaptico Hundred called Prattlewell. this was 100 acres of land patented to George Brewer, Senior on May 22, 1667.

"The Archives of Maryland, Volume 65, Pages 421 - 423 mentions a court judgment against George Brewer, Sr. he lost a case in 1674 involving a debt of 4,400 pounds of tobacco which he owned to john Quigley of Virginia."
