from husband J.B.'s obit: Times Herald, Washington, IN, Tues 17 Sep 2002 J.B. Walker J.B. (Joseph Benedict) Walker, 91, died at 6:55 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. He had been in failing health for several months and seriously ill for two weeks. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Simon's Church with the Rev. David Martin as celebrant. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery. Friends and family called at the Ed Lee Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Christian wake service was held at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Walker was born March 7, 1911, in Bogard Township, Daviess County. He was the son of George L. and Pearl M. (Spalding) Walker. A 1927 graduate of Epsom High School, J.B. was a lifelong resident of Daviess County. He farmed near Epsom until 1959, then moved to a farm in Veale Township. He served as a precinct chairman for the Democratic Party for several years. His hobbies were woodworking and hunting. Surviving are a son, Robert Joseph Walker (married to Terry Kessens, of Washington; three daughters, Frances Ann (Mrs. Dale) Lichtenberg of Fairfield, Ct.; Rita Jane (Mrs. Reggie) Washam of Boonville; and Helen Louis (Mrs. Walter) Kaiser of Washington; four grandchildren: Duane Edward Long, Lewisville, Texas; Kelli Susan Hill, Wheatland; Mark Evan Long of Elnora; and David Joseph Walker of Washington; and three great-grandchildren: Duane Edward Long II; Paige Alyssa Hill and Blane Andrew Hill, Wheatland. His sister, Rosemary Zeeveld, Spencer, also survives. His first wife, Margaret Irine [sic] Colvin, whom he married on July 9, 1942, died August 2, 1990. His second wife, Juanita, whom he married in 1991, died in October 1999. An infant son, Joseph, and four brothers, John, Lawrence, Louis and James, also preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Washington Catholic Schools. (Sept. 14, 2002)
