    Bert BULKIN remembers Gert as a sweet old lady who took care of Isaac after Fanny died.  According to Shirley BULKIN, the family was sitting shiva for Fanny ("her body wasn't even cold in the grave yet") when Isaac turned to her and her mother Anne to ask, "would you mind very much if I got married again?"  Neither Shirley nor Anne ever took to Gert:  Shirley claims that Gert stole the family silver and remembers her mother calling Gert a "kurva."  Bert disputes this characterization.
