BB says: Cora's father, Frank Pardee, was from Connecticut. His father was born there and farmed near New Haven. I suspect this was their connection to Connecticut - which is right across the inlet from NYC - and why James W. Gray and Cora moved there to try farming.
Also, Cora's father, Frank Pardee, coal merchant and fairly well off in New Haven, was married twice and explains Cora's mother having 2 diff. names, I guess. Looks like they were divorced sometime before 1891.
