Source: Alsop's 1765 Survey of Aghadowey Parish for the townland of Kileagh. Two Wiiliam Kennedys held one quarter of the townland each. Was this the source of the Kennedy name for Kennedy Boyd?
From BB:
This is from the 1725 Tenants list of Aghadowey:
Killeagh: Angus McCollister, Wm. Crow, Saml. Kenedy,
Jno. Johnstown, David Matthews, Widdo Moor, Jas
Ferguson (a cotter).
There are definitely McCallisters and Kennedys in the
area early on.
The OS Memoirs comment that Kennedy was one of the original 7 names to come over at the time of the Plantation but that by the 1830s, the name is extinct.
