Source: marriage record on IGI: Husband Walter Ernest Harding Birth: , London, England Marriage: 25 DEC 1894 Manhattan, New York Father: James Sidney Harding Mother: Eliza Wood
Wife
In the 1910 Census, Walter is aged 44, married 15 years, of English parents, a Proprieter of a Milliners Shop, living in Eleanor Place, Ward 8 of Yonkers City, New York along with his wife, Margaret, aged 43 and children, Archibald, 14, Caryle aged 10 and Adrey aged 7. Also living with him is Eliza Burk, aged 61, mother in law of Walter Harding, who has 2 children and only one living. emig 1861, widowed.
She can't be Margaret's mother as Margaret gives her
mother as Margaret McVickar in her marriage record of
1894. So is she Margaret's aunt? - then she would be a
GRAY?
(NB: 1900 Census - Elizabeth Burk is head, age 70, born May 1830, Ire, widowed, married 28 yrs, emig 1853 and
living with her are a William Gray, born 1866 aged 44 (yes, that is what it days), nephew and a Mary J. Gray, born 1882, aged 17/22 (??), niece. - not necessarily brother and sister because of the age difference.)
I think I found her married to a John Burke in the
1870 Census with 2 children, John and Charles. John
actuallly born in England which would be possible on
their way from Ireland to USA and Charles born in NYC.
In the 1920 Census, Walter Harding has his nephew Wilbur G Barber, aged 14, staying with him. He is living in Yonkers Ward 8, Westchester, New York and is the proprieter of a Stationery Store.
By the 1930 Census, Walter is widowed and is living in Saratoga Avenue in District 58, Yonkers, Westchester. Mary Gray Barber is living next door and next door to her are the Merritts! Walter is now a "Vault Custodian" in a bank.
