Source: Marriage record in 1st Garvagh. A Robert Gray and a James Gray witnessed the marriage. This could be my great great great grandfather, James Gray (the one who was married to "Bethy"), and all three (Joseph, James and Robert) might well be brothers. OR, any of the three of them could be the father of my g g g g/f, James Gray.
From Coole Glebe according to their daughter, Anne's, marriage record, in Coleraine LRO, in 1847.

BB analysis:
What we know about Susannah Brewster and Joseph Gray in Ireland:
1. They were married at 1st Garvagh Presbyterian on
Mar 16, 1808. Why they were married there we don't
know. We do know that they do not appear later at
Macosquin having any children baptized. Witnesses to
the wedding were Robert Gray and James Gray -
supposedly brothers or uncles of Joseph - from
Macosquin Parish.
2. We know that Joseph was born in 1780/1781 and
Susannah was born in 1783 according to his death
notice and the 1850 US Census - and both in Ireland.
3. Since they did not emigrate until 1847 or later
they should be in the TAB and the 1831 Census in
Macosquin.
4. In the 1831 Census in Glenhall we have Brewsters
AND Grays. Joseph Gray in #3 with 5 males and 3
females. This would mean he had 4 male children and 2
female children living. This is not quite enough for
a marriage in 1808 but allowing for one son to have
moved out and a couple to have died in infancy it is
allowable. Is it possible his parents came with him???
5. In the 1828 TAB - there are only 2 Brewsters
recorded in Glenhall - James and John.
6. Another possibility is that this is the Joseph Gray
in Glenleary.
7. I now have discovered another child for Susannah
and Joseph Gray - Anne Gray who married Thomas H.
Crowe in 1847 and immediately emigrated to US. If we
get their marriage record we will have the name of the
townland these Grays hail from!!! [She was from Coole Glebe - BG]
This has been a necessary journey to make to find the
one record that will take us back to the Grays in the
TAB and 1831 Census and perhaps further back.
Record of Journey:
1. Searching for Joseph and Susannah in US Census -
finding them with son and family in the 1850 Census.
2. Followup searching all census before and after
1850 and finding Susannah living with a near neighbor
of Charles Gray in 1870 Census- the Crowes!
3. Searching the genealogy newsbank for Philadelphia
and finding Joseph Gray's death notice which said his
son in law was Thomas CROW! and thus finding Crow's
wife, Anne, was Susannah's own daughter.
4. Checking Derry Gen Centre Irish marriage records
and finding Anne Gray married Thomas Crowe in 1847.
All of this was logical thinking but sheer luck in the
finding!!
