Marriage certificate in Coleraine Local Record Office - he married there, from Camus, son of James Creelman, a farmer. (BB: Hugh's father is James Robert Creelman of Camus and mother is Martha Gault.)
On board the OSCEOLA from Glasgow to NYC, April 16,
1847, these names are together:
James Bruster, 50, farmer
Mary Bruster, 48
Jane Bruster, 20
Hugh Creelman,16
Ann Creelman, 14
M.J. Creelman, 6 mos
This simply HAS to be this Hugh Creelman and his wife Anne Brewster as the 6 month old child, M J Brewster, has to be Martha Jane, their daughter. Why they should be listed as aged only 16 and 14 is a total mystery. As are the Brewsters with whom they were travelling.
BB says (030707), "BOTH William Creelman AND Hugh Creelman are living in the same area in Philly as Charles Gray. AND Hugh Creelman has living with him a Mary Brewster- age 30. This is the 1850 Census now - I went back to it. So Mary must be Ann's sister and she is living with them but later moves in with Charles Brewster, her
brother, in Iowa....at some point."
BB says (030707), "Hugh Creelman's wife, Ann Brewster, apparently did die in 1854 as Kay says. He then moved from Philadelphia to Lee, Madison, Iowa with 2 daughters and Mary Brewster, his sister in law. He marries a widow, Jane Mitchell who apparently had a son John. Mary Brewster moves in with brother Charles Brewster."
BB says, "I have a feeling Hugh died young as well as I cannot find him farming in Iowa after 1860. He may have moved again but didn't check that out. His two daughters by Ann Brewster were Martha J. and Eliza - if that helps
any with naming patterns - other than that I don't see
any other clues."

BB: The person who has all the data on James Robert Creelman and Martha Gault has 7 children listed for them including Hugh. I don't see Nancy Creelman so I would suspect she is another Creelman family. Perhaps??

Claims United States Labor Record
Norman OK Aug. 11, 1911-
Plowing thirty-six acres of cotton in three and a half days, with single row cultivator, and that, too, at the age of 94 years, a cotton farmer living near Norman, Cleveland Count Mr. Creelman performed this record-breaking feat during the last week. He intends to increase his cotton acreage next season.
BB: It is now my belief that Hugh Creelman and Nancy Creelman are siblings. If William and Nancy's first daughter was an Elizabeth that would certainly link with Hugh's second daughter being named Elizabeth Creelman. Their parents are more than likely James and Elizabeth Creelman b in the the 1780s or thereabouts.
