General Notes
Source: daughter's marriage certificate and baptismal entry in Macosquin Pres Church.
He was living in Coole at the time Eliza Jane was born but she gave her address as Ballintaggart on her marriage certificate. (Upper Coole Glebe and Upper Ballintaggart appear to overlap on the map, so this is not surprising.)
A soldier in the marriage record of his daughter, Eliza Jane, when she married in 1853.
There are no Brownes in the 1831 census for "Coole" or "Little Coole".
There is only one Brown in Macosquin in the Griffiths Valuation, a Lydia Brown who leased a tiny 5 shilling cottage in Lower Kiltinney. However, there IS a Robert Brown in Altikeeragh in the Parish of Dunboe (but that is about 8 miles from Cullyvenney). He rents 0/3/20 ARPs worth 10 shillings plus cottage of 10 shillings.
No Brownes in Ballintaggart in Griffiths Valuation or Griffiths Valuation Revision Books. The GVRBs show a Matthew Browne in House 12 in Upper Coole Glebe in the first revision book (?1859). He is replaced by a Mary Brown in 1869/9. She in turn is scratched out in 1898.
