Source: Civil Death record, he was a labourer from Drumcroon.
(There are no Boyds in Drumcroon in the 1828 TAB.)
Is he the William in Drumcroon in the 1831 census, who lived in a household of one male and four females? He would have been 24, possibly older as his DoB comes from a death certificate which may be inaccurate. I think this is possible. But it might also be his father, uncle or an older relative.
Is the William in the death record the William in Drumcroon in the GV (he would have been circa 50)? Probably. I have combined them. William Boyd of Drumcroon had no land, he held house 1c, worth 15 shillings.
Is he the son of William Boyd of Collins, the father of three other sons? LG does NOT have him as a grandson on the lineage of John Boyd of Lismoyle and Collins (and a son of William) which she has from "the family notes". But it is still possible that William did have a son which he named after himself.
It seems very likely that William is either a member of the household of 5 males and 3 females in the 1831 census headed by William of Collins - William himself, Kennedy (hadn't married yet), John (dies 2 years later), Thomas (a kid still), Andrew (married and gone), which leaves a space for William - OR, he IS the William in Drumcroon. This would provide an opportunity for his sister, if my Mary is also a child of William of Collins, and one of the three females in his house, to meet Robert Brewster, who may well be the son of the John Brewster in Drumcroon in the 1831 census, on her visits to her brother.
William died in 1864 and his daughter Sarah married in 1865 but her father is not described as deceased in the marriage entry. She still gave her address as Drumcroon and a Thomas Boyd witnessed the marriage. Does this mean that Thomas may even have been a son of William?
The GVRBs show:

BG, revisiting this on 220211:
Look how close the names are between William Boyd's family and my Mary Boyd and Robert Brewster - the recurrance of William, Sarah and Ann - and even Matilda. And then there is the readiness to call children Boyd, or put it in as a middle name. Okay, so, is William of Drumcroon, 1807-1864, the son of William of Collins who married Nancy Gage? William and Nancy do not as yet have a son called William and naming convention suggests that Wiliiam of Drumcroon's parents were William and Ann. And William of Drumcroon has the same names in his family as my Robert Brewster and Mary Boyd, and Robert Brewster may well have come from Drumcroon, so is she another sister of William. And best of all, William and Nancy Gage had a son called Kennedy Boyd who is the great grandfather of Ringland Boyd!!!! The man in my parents' scrapbook.
