Source: Macosquin Presbyterian Church records, where he is given as the father of three children born in "Ballyminta".
Pyke's 1725 Survey of Aghadowey shows a "Sawney Bowl" in "Bwalla Neontagh South" (which he points out is the same place as Crosscaneally), while Alsop has the following:
Ballinuntagh: 1/4 to James Collins, 1/4 to Benjn. Boyd, 1/2 to John, Sam and Abram Boyd.
A Benjamin Boyd, of Ballyluntagh, (again in the parish of Aghadowey, rather than Macosquin), is recorded on Alsop's Survey for Aghadowey Parish in 1765. He held a quarter of the townland while the Messers John, Sam and Abraham Boyd held half of it.
There are no Boyds in the 1831 census for Ballylintagh, Macosquin but this may be due to the division of Ballylintagh between Macosquin and Aghadowey parishes. The 1831 Census for Aghadowey shows two Boyds living in Ballylintagh: John, and Benjm, living in Houses 3 and 4 respectively. John lived in a household of 4 males and 7 females, plus one servant, all Presbyterian.
A Benjamin Boyd holds 6 acres in Ballylintagh in the 1833 TAB for Aghadowey and a John Boyd holds 4 acres in the same townland (Ballylintagh is divided between the parishes of Aghadowey and Macosquin) Are they brothers, and is the John Boyd a link to my John Brewster, son of Mary Boyd? (Or is the John in the TAB the father of Benjamin?)
There are no Boyds in Ballylintagh in the Griffiths Valuation.
There are NO Boyds in the 1901 Census for Ballylintagh, Aghadowey (unless there is another Ballylintagh in Macosquin). Some of Benjamin's family emigrated. I wonder what happened to John's line.
