Source: Macosquin Presbyterian Church baptism records, where he is shown as the husband of a Mary Anne who had a child Eliza in 1826. The first records for Macosquin Presbyterian Church are 1823. They are from "Ballyminta" (Ballylintagh?) and continue producing children until at least 1841, called Charlotte, Archibald, Benjamin, Thomas (x2) and Rachel.
He may be a brother of my Mary Boyd, (along with Kennedy Boyd), as Ballylintagh is so close to Dromore, and the Brewsters of Dromore are buried in Ballylintagh old graveyard.
A Benjamin Boyd, of Ballyluntagh, (again in the parish of Aghadowey, rather than Macosquin), is recorded on Alsop's Survey for Aghadowey Parish in 1765. He held a quarter of the townland while the Messers John, Sam and Abraham Boyd held half of it.
There are no Boyds in the 1831 census for Ballylintagh, Macosquin but this may be due to the division of Ballylintagh between Macosquin and Aghadowey parishes. The 1831 Census for Aghadowey shows two Boyds living in Ballylintagh: John, and Benjm, living in Houses 3 and 4 respectively. Benjamin lived in a household of 3 males and 4 females, all Presbyterian.
A Benjamin Boyd holds 6 acres in Ballylintagh in the 1833 TAB for Aghadowey and a John Boyd holds 4 acres in the same townland (both in Aghadowey not Macosquin, but the two are adjoining.)
There are no Boyds in Ballylintagh in the Griffiths Valuation.
