Constance D. Creek Weds Dale Holmes
The marriage of Miss Constance Darrell Creek of Huntsville and Dale Holmes of Birmingham took place at 3 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Lakewood Presbyterian Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Creek, 2110 Wharton Road, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Holmes of Birmingham. Nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Johnnie K. Cheney, pianist, and Miss Donna French of Birmingham, soloist. Miss Linda Gail Creek was her sister’s maid of honor. The brides other attendants were Miss Judy Chase of Bessemer and Miss Verna Embrey of Arab. The maid of honor wore a street-length dress of blue taffeta with pleated blue chiffon cummerbund and matching blue hat. She carried a bouquet of white carnations. The bridesmaids wore yellow taffeta dresses and hats identical to that of the honor attendant. They carried yellow carnations. The brides father gave her in marriage. She wore a wedding gown of white Belgian lace with sweetheart neckline and bracelet length sleeves. The skirt formed a chapel length train. Her silk illusion veil cascaded from a pillbox embroidered with pearls and sequins. She wore a strap of pearls, gift of the bridegroom, and carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid and showered with tube roses. Jimmy Dunn of Birmingham was the best man. Ushers were Terry Stewart and Floyd Schrimsher, both of Birmingham. The brides mother wore blue Alencon lace and taffeta and the bridegrooms mother wore beige lace trimmed in satin. Both wore purple-throated orchids. A reception was held in Fellowship Hall of the church. When the couple left for a wedding trip to Florida, Mrs. Holmes was wearing a navy blue silk shantung suit with eyelet blouse, navy accessories and a white orchid. Upon their return, they will reside at 1426 Pika Road, Birmingham, where Mr. Holmes is employed at the Social Security Office. Mrs. Holmes will continue her training at the University Hospital, where she is a senior nurse.
