    John Venable (1740-1811) was assistant commissioner of the provision laws of Bedford, Va. In 1783 a famous suit for impressing cattle was tried, and he was defended by Patrick Henry. He removed to Georgia, 1791, where he died in Jackson County. He was born in Virginia.
