        Source is pg. 10 of "Descendants of Steven Van Camp" by Shirley Shore of Philipsburg, PA which say he was severely wounded in the head 4 days bef. the end of the Civil War. He was taken to a field hospital in Casinova, VA and he always credited the surgeons there for having saved his life (Doc. #1740).
