    I grew up in Tellico Plains and I descend through Billy Pearson and Mollie Marshall. Many of the names that I have listed below were collected by Roy Murr. Roy was the family historian and I remember him at our family reunions when I was a child. He always had his papers out to add the new addition to the family tree. The Shadden information is derived from census data. I talked with Roy shortly before his death in 1995. Unfortunately his memory was not very good and he could only tell me a few things about Hiram and Sallie. Hiram's brother Silas married Sallies sister Jane. Roy said that "Silas' people" are buried near Trigonia (Blount Co., TN) but I have not been able to verify it and I know nothing about their descendants. Hiram and Sallie lived in Reagan Valley (near Tellico) near Piney Grove Church. They and some of their children are buried there. According to Roy Murr, the Pearson's were of Cherokee descent and originally came from near Copper Hill. There are many families in the Tellico area that were never on the Cherokee Rolls and were able to successfully hide the fact that they had Indian blood in order to not be removed to OK. I don't think that the Cherokee descent can ever be proven but I do believe Roy. Sallie's father Emanuel died 29 Dec 1864 in a Federal Prison in Knoxville. There are a couple of records in the Monroe County Chancery Court that Emanuel's children and their spouses. Apparently on 13 Apr 1864, under the threat of violence, Emanuel made a note to Alexander Rider who claimed that James Smith, a minor son of Emanuel and connected with the Confederate Army, had taken a mule from him. Emanuel was unable to pay, so he was arrested and taken to prision in Knoxville where he died. Rider sued on the note and won possession of some land which he sold. The Chancery Court cases are the heir trying to appeal the award and to get the land returned. I don't know if they were ever successful.
