  • George. Chief George. Menatochyand. Delaware. In the period around 1757, he and Newcomer were considered the principal leaders of the "Ohio Indians." Buried with full military honors in old Allegheny (north side) in 1762. When Robert Stobo was held as a prisoner in Fort Duquesne after the conflict at Fort Necessity, he penned maps and papers to be smuggled to the English forces. George was the Indian intermediary trusted for this task.  Another Indian called Moses assisted George. Stobo's message was sent on July 28, 1754 and was carried to James Innes—Governor Dinwiddie's replacement for the dead Colonel Joshua Fry.
