    I've not seen any discussions or questions relating to McClures in Louisiana. I am descended from David McCluer, who arrived in Catahoula Parish, LA (east central Louisiana) sometime around 1812. We have not been able to determine where he came from. He was married to Naomi Haggerty before he got here. David was one of three McClures (McCluers) in Louisiana on the 1820 census. Squire William McCluer was in Ouachita Parish (northeast Louisiana) on both the 1810 and 1820 censuses. There was a third McCluer in New Orleans on the 1820 census, but I don't have their name handy.
    
    David had five sons (Orren, John Haggerty, Heman, Benjamin Franklin, and David) and one daughter (Phoebe) that we have been able to identify. I am descended from John Haggerty McCluer, who has numerous descendants still in Catahoula Parish and other parts of central Louisiana. Some of his children have descendants up in the Shreveport, LA area and in other parts of western LA. In fact, we even have some cousins (Joe) who ended up in California.
    
    Bottom line on all this - if anyone can help me locate where David and Naomi came from, I will be extremely grateful, because we have been hitting this brick wall for several years and our heads are getting bruised:). I will be more than happy to share any information I have on this family. As a teaser, David was a soldier in the War of 1812, and at least 2 of his grandsons fought in the Civil War (for the South, of course).
