Capt Ralph ??? poss tree Marshall

    Surnames: Marshall, Markham
    I recently found a family genealogy tape recorded in 1969, and I quote: "The first Marshall who I believe to be our common traceable ancestor was Captain Ralph Marshall. He emigrated from north Ireland in 1650. He settled at the Isle of Wight in Westmoreland county, Va., which is on the Chesapeake Bay, and he is believed to be buried in Stratford. He had a son Thomas who was a carpenter born 1655 in Westmoreland county, Va. He died 1704...He had children John and William...John had sons John, Thomas, Markham who was named for the maternal grandfather but called Abraham; and William. The son William also had sons Samuel and a William".
    I believe Markham to be Abraham Markham Marshall; born 1763 Westmoreland county, Va.; died 1803, Kentucky; but I am attempting to verify. Online is posted a Will of Thomas Marshall, "carpenter", born 1650; and the Will was probated 31 May 1704. This Will refers to sons John and William, and wife Martha; and a 200 acre plantation. My gg grandfather was Byram Marshall whose tombstone says he died 2 Jan 1888, age 66. Byram's father was perhaps Samuel ~ I'm still rooting. Also, according to genealogy tape, Byram Marshall had uncles on his father's side named Hugh, Enoch, William, John, Thomas and possibly Ralph.
