    In all this time, perhaps you've already answered your questions. Mary L Phillis, b 1847, was d/o Joseph & Mary K Marshall Phillis. Her mother may have died in childbirth as she died same year Mary was born. Her mother's parents, Joseph & Prudence Larimer Marshall of Guernsey Co, OH raised her so was surprised to learn Uncle Hugh had been appointed guardian. The Hx of Guernsey Co says Joseph Marshall came from Greene Co, PA.
    
    Mary L Phillis married Irville N Knowlton 5/15/1866 Guernsey Co.
