This Sophia B. Skaggs was listed as a widow on her death certificate. Her husbands name was not given. Her parents were J. W. Boles and Mary Atwood Warren, J. W. Boles is  buried in Red Hill cemetery in Hodgenville along with two wifes, Nannie and Addie F.

Sophia died in Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. The cause of death was given as cardiac arrest. She was buried in Dezarn cemetery in Green County near Creal, Kentucky. Her name was on a headstone with Everett Skaggs who was obviously her husband. He had preceded her in death in 1956. Her home was given as Mt. Sherman, Kentucky and the informants name was Ruth Skaggs who also lives in Mt. Sherman. The funeral arrangements were handled by Dixon Rogers of Magnolia, Kentucky.

Sophia married my father, Rob Perkins, after his second wife, Nora Warren DeSpain died.  I believe the marriage was about 1972.  They only lived together a short time.  She had a place near Mt. Sherman, Kentucky and to keep the insurance current on the place, she was required to live a set amount of time there.  She returned to the place and after the required time was up, Pop went to get her. She said she still loved him but had decided not to return with him. Pop saw a lawyer and the marriage was either annulled or they were divorced, I don't know which.  Pop died a couple of years later.  Sophia was overheard to say, "Well, if I had known he was going to die so soon, I would have stayed with him." 1886 - 1956 Everett E.
