Woodville (Mississippi) Republican
October 14, 1933
The many relatives and friends in this, the home county of Mr. Iler Netterville, learned with sincere regret of his death which occurred last Sunday at his home at Drew in Washington (sic) county. The funeral services, which were held Monday, were conducted by the pastor of the Baptist church of which he had been a loyal and active member.
Mr. Netterville, who was the son of the late Mr. Chas. H. Netterville and of Mrs. Morris Netterville, and a member of a large and influential family, was born in this county fifty years ago. He spent his early life here then moved to Washington county where he was an extensive cotton planter and where he was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. About twenty-five years ago he married Miss Anna Coon, oldest daughter of Mr. Chas. A. Coon and the late Mrs. Jessie O'Kelley Coon, also a member of a prominent Wilkinson county family. They have one child a daughter, Elvie, who, with her mother survives him. He is survived also by six sisters and three brothers: Mrs. J. C. Whetstone, of Woodville, Mrs. Lessley Gillis, of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Holloway Huff, and Mrs. Scott Ellis, of Lorman, Mrs. A. K. Ellis, of Natchez, Mrs. Frank Owen, Mr. Wade Netterville, Mr. Howard Netterville, of Newellton, La. to all of whom we extend sincere sympathy.
The following relatives from this county attended the funeral of Mr. Iler Netterville, a native of Wilkinson county, which was held at Drew, Washington (sic) county on Monday: Mrs. J. T. Morgan, Messrs. C. A. Coon, J. C. Whetstone, R. E. L. Coon, Glen Whetstone, and Willie Coon.
(editor's note: Drew, Mississippi is in Sunflower County, not Washington County)
