The balance to be sold at Rachel's death and divided between children, except for my daughters, Bessy Daniel, Susannah Daniel, Nancy Jones, Sally Spain, Polly McFarlane and Eady Spain [Note: Benjamin DeSpain's wife.] --- each, I've given $40 and that's to be deducted from their part; Wit: William Synpson, Thomas D. 1880 Census: Oak Hill, Taylor Co, KY roll T9-0442 page 95B. Sarah Despain, age 77 widowed born VA is living with William H. (27,KY) and Nancy J.(23,KY) Underwood. There is no known reason why this should be this Sarah, but there is no other person in the file that fits the recorded data.
Scotland Co, MO Deed Book 18, page 426: Sarah DeSpain to Jeremiah Lewis both of Scotland Co, MO for $400 her right of dower in land on Pit man Creek in Green Co, KY nera Jeremiah McFarling's 57 acres. Also a tract on Alex fork of Pitman Creek, corner to William DeSpain's Mill Race 125 acres. Also another tract of 53 acres.

Green Co, KY Circuit Court Case #9732, 5 Aug 1842 - Sarah DSpain vs. E. Gaddie: .....For replication to defendants first plea, plaintiff says she was appointed Administrator of William DeSpain in Lewis County, Missouri on 11 Feburary 1841 and before the institution of this suit and still is such and here exhibits her letters which she files with the Clerk -
"Lewis County Missouri:
To Sarah DSpain, Greeting
Whereas William DSpain of Lewis County, Missouri, deceased, having while living and at the time of his death had goods, chattels and estate in Lewis County, Missouri and died intestate, They commit unto Sarah DeSpain full power to administer the estate. They do ordain, constitute and appoint Sarah DSpain as adinistratrix."

In Green County Deed book 19, page 319, 11 Jul 1844 - The heirs of William and Sarah were listed as 1. John A Blanchard and wife Lucinda, 2. William R Jones and wife Rachel, 3. James and 4. Sarah who is guardian for 5. Benjamin, 6. Sarah, 7. William and 8. Luellen all of Buchanan County, MO. Later Deed Book entries listed Lewis T. Despain of Green Co. KY as a son.
Green Co, KY Deed Book 20, page 459, 30 Sept 1847 - Jeremiah Lewis and Sarah DeSpain widow of Wm. DeSpain dec'd and James DeSpain, Wm. R. Jones and Rachel, John Blanchard and Lucinda all of Buchanan Co, MO and Lewis DeSpain of Green Co, KY children and heirs of the said Wm. DeSpain to Walker Gill or $610 125 acres on Pitman Creek at the mouth of DeSpain Mill Race. Signed by Lewis DeSpain as their attorney and for himself.
