Sandusky Biographical Sketches, pg. 286: 2. Louis Traub, born Aug. 4, 1817, in Worms, Rhenish Palatinate, died Aug. 15, 1881; immigrated to Sandusky in 1847. Founder of the Baystadt Demokrat; member of nearly all social organizations during the 50's; founder of the Jager-Compagnie; participated in the Civil War as Captain of the 107 Ohio Volunteer Regiment. He was married in 1840; his wife died Oct. 7, 1895. L. Traub held many offices for which he was especially qualified. His extensive notary business is being carried on successfully by his son John Traub. The names of his living children are: Mrs. Barb. Krudwig, Conrad Traub, Mrs. Dora Leser, Josephine, Louis, Mrs. Caroline Kranz, John, Carl, Philip, Wilhelm.
History of Sandusky, pg. 187: "The burial of Mr. Louis Traub took place yesterday afternoon, Oct. 18, 1881. Although a continuous rain set in at noon, the attendance was very large. The Light Guard Company, ...... Louis Traub was born Aug. 4, 1817 in Worms in the Palatinate. In the year 1835 he came to New York where he followed his trade as a tailor.......
