Robert Russell (1630)
The Church Record Archive copy of this family indicates that Robert
came from England but S.L. Bailey suggests that he came from Scotland, from
which sketch I quote.
"Robert Russell is said to have been from Scotland, and from this fact
the district of his residence received the name 'Scotland District.' The
ancient homestead is now owned by Dea. Ammon Russell of the Free Christian
Church. His brother, Mr. Abiel Russell, ninety-one years old, is the
oldest man now living in Andover. He is one of the few pensioners of the
War of 1812. In West Andover are branches of the Russell family, which is,
though not so numerous as some, a large and respectable element of the
citizenship."
