‌Philander C. and Betsy were married in a religious ceremony on November 16th, 1832 in Caneadea, Allegany County, New York. They had five sons and four daughters, named George, Zenus, Americus, Hiram Alonzo, Romanzo Sylvester, Jeanette, Nancy, Betsey Jane and Harriet.

Americus was born in March 1843. He died at the age of 19 on June 24th, 1862 in General Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va of Typhoid.
